Statisticians Educate and Entertain at Explorathon2023 in Dundee

Statisticians from CREEM (Centre for Research into Ecological and Environmental Modelling) participated in Explorathon2023, a science festival to encourage the public to engage with research, with interactive games on estimating populations of wildlife.

A group of statisticians from CREEM (Centre for Research into Ecological and Environmental Modelling) participated in several public events in Explorathon2023, held throughout September in Dundee. One Friday they were out in the Wellgate shopping centre with outreach activities on photo-ID matching and practical estimation of the number of rubber ducks. The climax was at final event of Explorathon2023, when they spent a whole day at the Dundee Science Centre with the rubber ducks again the star attraction as part of a photo-ID pairs game.
