Career Management Team

The Career Management Team includes careers advisers and information officers.

Careers advisers are experienced at advising students and graduates on many career-related topics. These might include career direction, diversity and equality (including disability-related issues), postgraduate study, or advice on applications, and interviews. Each adviser has sector and school-based specialisms.

Assistant Director (Career Management)

Jim Campbell

Jim has responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the Career Management team. He also contributes to the leadership and management of the Careers Service overall, alongside the Director and Assistant Director (Opportunities). Additionally, he delivers careers advice, guidance and education for students as part of a small practitioner caseload. He also works with the School of Management, the International Education Institute and the Graduate School for Interdisciplinary Studies.

Jim has worked in the higher education sector since 1998 in a variety of universities and roles, namely Lancaster (Careers Adviser), Stirling (Careers Service Manager), Glasgow (International Careers Adviser), Abertay (Student Services Manager) and now St Andrews. Throughout that time, he has been active within the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS), serving on its Board of Directors from 2007–2010.

Joshua Crofts

Josh is one of our careers advisers, working with the Schools of Classics, English, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Geography & Sustainable Development. He is also jointly responsible for delivering research postgraduate and early career contract research staff careers provision, and for overseeing the University's Spotlight Award.

Previously, Josh worked at the University as an Information Officer within the Careers Centre and as a Web Content Editor and Trainer within Digital Communications.

Josh was awarded a BA (Hons) in Ancient History and Greek in 2013 from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and an MLitt in Greek in 2014 from St Andrews, completing his PhD in Classics at St Andrews in 2022. He is currently completing a PGDip in Career Education, Information and Guidance in Higher Education at the University of Warwick.

Philip Ireland

Philip is one of our careers advisers and works with the Schools of Chemistry, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics and Astronomy. Before joining the Careers Centre, Philip previously studied Physics at St Andrews at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, receiving his PhD in 2019. Alongside his School caseload, Philip is also jointly responsible for overseeing careers support for postgraduate students and early career contract research staff.

Amy Kinsman

Amy is one of our careers advisers and works with the Schools of Art History, Economics and Finance, and Modern Languages. Amy started her career working on a student placement programme and then within recruitment. She then completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Development at Edinburgh Napier University and was awarded a scholarship to participate in the University of Jyväskyla’s International Summer School for ICT in Guidance and Counselling. Amy then went on to work as a Careers Adviser at the University of Stirling and Newcastle University before joining the University of St Andrews Careers Centre in 2020.

Lisa-Rose Moller

Lisa-Rose is one of our careers advisers, working with the School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies and the Music Centre. She is a St Andrews alumna and graduated with an MA in International Relations & Social Anthropology. Lisa-Rose set up her own career coaching business and worked in Careers Coaching, Student Development and Business Engagement in Higher Education at the University of East Anglia, University of Edinburgh and on a Freelance basis with LSE and UCL. She completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Career Guidance & Development at Edinburgh Napier University and is currently working towards becoming an accredited Executive Coach with the Institute of Leadership & Management.

Ricky Shek

Ricky is one of our careers advisers and works with the Schools of Computer Science, Biology, History and Medicine. Ricky graduated from the University of Dundee, gaining his undergraduate degree BSc (Hons) Business Management in 2013 and completing his postgraduate degree MSc Applied Computing in 2017. He worked at the Careers Service at Abertay University as their Employer Liaison Officer before joining the University of St Andrews Careers Centre in 2022.

Sarah Winter

Sarah is one of our careers advisers and works with the Schools of Divinity, International Relations and Psychology & Neuroscience. She is also jointly responsible for supporting postgraduate students and early career contract research staff. Sarah started her career in the legal sector, carrying out posts in London, Paris, and Melbourne. She also has experience working on the management boards of education and children’s charities and is currently completing a PgDip in Career Guidance and Development.

Information Officer and CV Adviser

Tracey Dall

Tracey is responsible for the overall management and updating of the Careers Centre website. She manages, develops, and updates all careers information resources and subscriptions. Tracey organises and coordinates service promotion events, including visiting days and other university events. Tracey is also part of a cross-service team providing reception cover and frontline services. She is also a CV Adviser.

Peer Support Assistants (PSAs)

University of St Andrews students

Our Peer Support Assistants (PSAs) help inform and deliver our student engagement activities, both online and in person. They assist in the delivery of an excellent student user experience for those attending the Career Centre and its events.

At our front-of-house, they provide triage services of information giving and signposting. Across campus, they act as brand ambassadors for the Careers Centre to raise awareness and promote the range of services on offer.

Our current PSAs are: Soumya Arora, Eve Handy, Dasha Krasnodembskaya, Charlie Norman, Jenny Ogorman and Siddheshwari Thakur.
